Australia’s most loved literary publication for children
In partnership with The NSW Department of Education

Yesterday
The School Magazine fosters literacy skills and engagement across Australia by offering diverse stories, articles, plays, poetry, and persuasive texts. It has existed for over 100 years and was in physical form right up until 2020. Such an impressive legacy comes with an equally impressive set of diverse needs for the teachers, students, contributors and editors that make The School Magazine a cherished literacy resource.
We had the opportunity to work together to create a leading platform for quality children’s literature, offering personalised opportunities to curate, learn and connect through a world of words.
We developed specialised workflows for teachers creating educational collections, students accessing content, contributors submitting materials and administrators managing subscriptions—all within a cohesively designed system.

Today
We wanted to make sure that our solution worked for the students, so we mailed out worksheets with different activities to test four concept territories, getting great participation across a broad age range.
From these insights, we focused on creating intuitive navigation, seamless classroom integration, and thoughtful subscriber journeys while always keeping accessibility and diverse learning needs at the forefront.

Tomorrow
The result is an intuitive platform that seamlessly supports comprehensive subscription management and payments for the administrative team and first-class content experiences for educators and students.
Meaning The School Magazine can continue to inspire young minds for another century with engaging content and trusted curriculum support.
