Changing the landscape
Preventing violence against women and girls with disabilities
In partnership with Our Watch and Women with Disabilities Victoria
Yesterday
Violence against women and girls with disabilities is a prevalent, serious and preventable violation of human rights. Changing the landscape is Our Watch and Women with Disabilities Victoria’s national, evidence-based resource to guide the prevention of violence against women and girls with disabilities, but a 100+ page document can be a barrier to access and engagement.
Together we co-created a suite of accessible video and static assets that bring the resource to life with passion and care.
Today
We led a rigorous, iterative, inclusive and trauma-informed co-design process to transform this valuable content into accessible videos, easy to read resources and social media assets.
Led by the lived-experience of co-designers and advisors, our approach ensured that all resources accurately reflect the views and needs of women with disabilities.
“Thank you… I've appreciated the care for the ethical process that has been considered for the development of these resources. This is just the beginning for Changing the landscape and will demonstrate how much shared value there is between communities to prevent gender based violence in practice.” —Dr Léna Molnar (she/her), Research and Evaluation Lead, at Women with Disabilities Victoria
Tomorrow
The result is impactful assets for not only prevention practitioners and disability service providers, but also the general public. Using a strengths-based and actionable framework, we hope to build a more inclusive society and a future free from violence for women and girls with disabilities.
The Changing the landscape resource page has seen an 864% increase in views, a 678% increase in users and an 80% increase in downloads year-on-year.
